European Early Childhood Education Research Association

I have explored the website of European Early Childhood Education Research Association (EECERA) this week to understand more research topics in early childhood this week.
EECERA seeks to sustain and develop the rich tradition of European early childhood thought, the legacy of Pestalozzi, Owen, Froebel, Steiner, Vygotsky, Piaget, Malaguzzi and other pioneers, whilst looking forward to encourage the exploration of new paradigms, methodologies, concepts and applications in the ever-changing context of early childhood studies. Its reach and interest is resolutely international and, whilst wanting to identify with Europe’s pluralist and diverse cultures, it is open to learn of, and to share in, the equally rich early childhood traditions and concepts of the World.
From Volume 23, issue 2, 2015, its journal European Early Childhood Education Research Journal, their interested research topics including children’s cognitive development, Using ICT in early childhood education, Cultural learning, teaching and learning in outdoor activities etc. The journal content is quite diverse in different areas.

I thought it focused on European early childhood field, but surprisingly, it is quite international. It is also have contacts in China that I can continue to work with.

A ideal research about new mother staying at home with the new-born child for 3 years

We all know that it is important for the babies to have safe attachment to he main carers, and the most important relationship is with the mother. Some researchers advocate for long-time accompany, some said high-quality accompany is more important than long-time.

In China, the woman staff has 3-month maternity leave starting from the day she asks for leave, it means they have to go back to work when the baby is about 3 months old. It takes big problems to the baby and to the new mother. The mother has to balance the caring of the baby and the work, sometimes they still breast feed the baby and carry the "food " to the baby every day. The baby has to be taken care of by other(s), and the safe attachment sometimes are not so strong with the mother. This will take serious emotional and social influence to the child when he/she grows up, they may feel it is difficult to trust people.

So this research is to find out the importance of the new mother's accompany to the child, and find the evidence to show that the government should give at least 3 years holiday to the new mother, staying at home and be with the child.

My Personal Research Journey

I choose the following three areas to do more investigation.
1. Ways to foster healthy social emotional development in toddlers
2. How the arts help children develop social-emotionally in healthy ways
3. The influence of sibling relationships on preschool children’s social-emotional development.
When I was young, my parents cared little about my emotions and feelings, the influences are much more profound than I expected. Till now, sometimes I lose temper quickly and don’t have strong connections with people’s feelings, and afraid of being neglected. For children’s well-beings, physical development and cognitive development are measurable, easier to practice than emotional and social development. The recent tendency of education is also highly focus on cultivating students’ emotional and social development.
I am not sure where to locate the information yet till now. I will be very grateful if any my colleague(s) could give me any suggestions. I hope I can make it for the research.
