Stellaluna

Stellaluna was forced to separate from his mother before he learned to fly. He was lucky that he was saved by the bird mom and stayed with her 3 little birds. He had to eat worms for survival, and tried best to learn the living style a bird has. He found out it was depressed since he was so different, but still he could make friends with others.

This is the first graphic novel by Janell Cannon, and it takes her 9 months to finish it.

I love this story because we can address young children that everyone is different from each other, they can find the ways to grow up that suits them best, and they can make friends with different people and animals though they are different from each other. And it also tells adults every kid is different, please treat every child differently and facilitate their growing in different ways.

School education nowadays is somehow still the products of industrial society. Especially in China, the test-driven education system ask teachers to pursue correct answer but not the individualized learning of each child. I really would like to make a change of this situation. Hope more and more people join me for this dream.
