the oppression

The first oppression coming to my mind is how the so-called City Inspector staffs treat the itinerant hawkers. There are always news report in recent years that the inspectors beat the itinerant hawkers, how they treat them without personalization. They are like rubbers, they even don’t care about people’s life, no matter dignity or respect.
The inspectors want to keep the city “in order”, keep the streets clean, but they forget there are some people who are poor, they don’t have the ability to get a decent job, and they need to make a living in the cities. It is unfair to expel them from the cities, since maybe they have no home to return to.
This kind of news always make me sad and angry, I think the society need to be fairer to the poor people. The government needs to create more job opportunities for the poor people, and help them to learn skills of making a living.

  1. Xia,
Living in poverty is very hard and not a lot of people understand all the consequences that the family suffers because of it. I mean don't get me wrong there are many people who have grown up in poverty that have become great influential people in this world. But many people that live in poverty are oppressed everyday and it is very sad to see that people get away with it. Living in the streets is the only option for some people and that just can't be changed without some serious help. As early childhood professionals it is our duty to help our young children understand and be more open to different kinds of people.
